Comments attract spam and aren’t needed on every site. With [JetHost Total Care](https://wordpress.org/plugins/jethost-total-care/) you can switch them off across all posts and pages in one click – no code and no separate plugin. This guide shows how, on any [JetHost WordPress hosting](https://jethost.com/hosting-for-wordpress/) plan.

## Turn off comments

1. In your WordPress dashboard, open **JetHost Total Care → Enhancements**.
2. Find **Disable comments on WordPress posts and pages** in the Site Enhancements list.
3. Toggle it on – the change saves automatically.

## When to use it

Leave comments on if your blog relies on reader discussion. Turn them off for a business site, portfolio, or landing page, where a comment box only invites spam and clutter. Because it’s a single toggle, you can switch it back on at any time – nothing is deleted, just hidden while the toggle is on.

Turning comments off here is cleaner than installing a separate plugin just for that job, and it applies site-wide so you don’t have to edit each post. Existing comments stay in your database; to also clear old spam, use the Delete Comments options in the [Database Optimization](https://jethost.com/kb/optimize-database-with-jethost-total-care/) tab.

## What the comments feature is

Comments are a built-in WordPress feature that lets visitors reply under posts and pages. They were designed for blogs, where discussion adds value. On a business site, portfolio, or landing page, though, that discussion rarely happens – instead the comment form becomes a magnet for spam bots posting links and junk. That’s why many site owners switch comments off completely.

## Comments, performance and a cleaner database

Turning comments off is also a small performance and maintenance win. Comment areas can load extra scripts and avatar requests on every page, and a flood of spam comments quietly bloats your database over time. With comments disabled, there’s nothing for bots to target and nothing new to moderate. For an even leaner site, combine this with [Database Optimization](https://jethost.com/kb/optimize-database-with-jethost-total-care/) to clear out any spam comments already stored, and keep your [post revisions](https://jethost.com/kb/how-to-limit-or-disable-wordpress-post-revisions-with-jethost-total-care/) in check. Together these keep WordPress fast, tidy, and focused on your actual content rather than managing unwanted replies.

## JetHost Experts Tip

Many business and brochure sites don’t need comments at all. Disabling them removes a common spam target and keeps your pages focused on your content.
