**Cyberduck** is a free, friendly FTP client for Windows and Mac – a great way to [manage your website’s files](https://jethost.com/kb/ftp-manage-files-cyberduck/). This guide shows how to connect it to your [JetHost hosting account](https://jethost.com/web-hosting/), both for a one-off session and as a saved bookmark you can reuse.

## Your FTP details

You’ll need four things, which you set or find in cPanel under **FTP Accounts**:

- **Server**: your domain name (if it already points to JetHost), or the server hostname/IP from your Client Area.
- **Username**: your cPanel username, or a dedicated FTP account like `user@yourdomain.com`.
- **Password**: the password for that user.
- **Port**: `21` for FTP.

## Quick Connect (one-off)

1. Open Cyberduck and click **Open Connection**.
2. Enter the server, username, password, and port from above.
3. Tick **Save Password** if you want to skip typing it next time, then click **Connect**.

Once connected, you’ll see all your folders and files – your website lives in `public_html`. If the connection is refused, double-check the port and that your domain actually points to JetHost; if it doesn’t yet, use the server hostname or IP from your Client Area as the server instead.

## Save a bookmark (recommended)

A bookmark saves the connection so you never re-enter the details. Open the **Bookmarks** tab, click the **+** at the bottom left, and fill in a nickname plus the same server, username, password, and port. Next time, just double-click the bookmark to connect. It’s the tidier choice if you log in more than once.

## Connect securely with SFTP

Plain FTP sends your password unencrypted. For a secure connection, choose **[SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)](https://jethost.com/kb/what-is-ftp-and-sftp/)** as the connection type in Cyberduck, use your cPanel username and password, and set the port to **1022** (JetHost’s SSH port). Everything else works the same, but your login and files travel encrypted.

## JetHost Experts Tip

[Create a separate FTP account](https://jethost.com/kb/how-to-create-ftp-accounts/) for each person or project in cPanel → FTP Accounts, and point it at just the folder they need. If access ever has to be revoked, you delete that one account without touching your main login.
