How to change nameservers at JetHost
When you register or transfer a domain to JetHost, it automatically uses our default nameservers so your website connects to your hosting account right away. However, you can change your nameservers at any time – for example, if you use a CDN, or manage DNS through a third-party service.
The process is simple and takes only a few minutes. After the update, DNS changes normally propagate within 24–48 hours.
What nameservers do?
Nameservers tell the internet where to find your website and email services.
If your domain points to JetHost nameservers, all DNS changes (A records, MX records, CNAME records, etc.) are managed inside your JetHost hosting panel.
If your nameservers point elsewhere, DNS settings must be edited through that provider instead.
Steps to change nameservers
Follow these steps to update your domain’s nameservers at JetHost:
1. Log in to your JetHost Client Area. Go to your Client Area using your email and password.
2. Open the Domains section. Click Domain from the main menu to see a list of all domains registered at JetHost.
3. Select the domain you want to update. Choose Manage next to the domain whose nameservers you want to change.
4. Locate the Nameservers panel. Navigate to the Nameservers section.
5. Choose “Use custom nameservers”. Switch from the default option to Use custom nameservers.
6. Enter the new nameservers. Fill in the nameservers provided by your hosting provider, DNS service, or JetHost. If you already have a hosting account with JetHost, you can find the Nameservers in hosting details.
7. Save your changes. Click Save Changes. The panel will update and confirm the new nameserver settings.
What happens next?
Nameserver changes usually begin to propagate immediately, but full global propagation can take up to 48 hours. During this time, your domain may temporarily load from the old or new server depending on your location.
JetHost Experts Tip
Always double-check your new nameserver values before saving. A small typo can cause your website or email to stop working until the error is corrected.
