How to connect your JetHost account via FTP

You can connect to your JetHost hosting account through FTP or SFTP to upload, download, and manage your website files. This method gives you full access to your file structure and works well for website updates, backups, and troubleshooting. The steps below show you how to set up your FTP connection quickly and safely.

This guide explains how to connect using your main FTP account and how to use additional FTP accounts created in cPanel.

Your main FTP account (cPanel username and password)

Every JetHost hosting account includes one default FTP account.

This account uses:

Hostname: your-domain.com or server hostname
Username: your cPanel username
Password: your cPanel password
FTP Port: 21
SFTP Port: 1022
FTP client: FileZilla, WinSCP, or Cyberduck

You can log in with these details immediately. This is the recommended account for full website access, file management, and administrative work.

How to connect with FTP

Use FTP when you need a simple connection.

Host: your-domain.com
Username: your cPanel username
Password: your cPanel password
Port: 21

How to connect with SFTP

Host: your-domain.com
Username: your cPanel username
Password: your cPanel password
Port: 1022

Additional FTP accounts (created in cPanel)

If you prefer to separate access for developers, staff, or applications, you can create additional FTP accounts in cPanel. These accounts always use the format:

ftpusername@your-domain.com

When you create an account in cPanel → FTP Accounts, cPanel will show:

The exact username (always ending with your domain)
The assigned directory
The password you choose

Use the same host and ports as the main FTP account. Additional accounts are useful when you want to limit access to a specific folder or provide temporary access to another person.

How to connect with FileZilla

Open FileZilla, enter your FTP host, username, password, and port in the Quickconnect bar, then click Quickconnect. Once connected, you’ll see your local files on the left and your JetHost Hosting files on the right. Drag and drop files between them to upload or download content.

JetHost Experts Tip

Use SFTP for better security. It encrypts both your login and data transfer, preventing exposure on public or shared networks. You can use the same credentials – just switch to port 1022 and select the SFTP protocol in your client.
