How to Migrate from cPanel to JetHost

If your current host also runs cPanel, you’re in luck – this is the fastest kind of migration there is. Because JetHost uses cPanel too, your whole account (websites, databases, and emails) can move across almost intact, using a single backup file. This guide shows the cPanel-to-cPanel route, whether you let our team do it or handle it yourself.

Why cPanel-to-cPanel is the easiest move

A full cPanel backup bundles everything in one file: your website files, all databases, email accounts with their messages, forwarders, autoresponders, cron jobs, and DNS zones. Restoring it onto JetHost recreates your account as it was – so there’s far less to rebuild by hand than a move between different control panels.

Do it yourself with a cPanel backup

1. In your current cPanel, open Backup and generate a full account backup (or use the Backup Wizard).
2. Download the backup file, or note where it’s stored.
3. Open a ticket asking JetHost to restore the full cPanel backup onto your new account – this is the cleanest way, as a full restore needs server-level access.
4. Prefer to move pieces yourself? Restore the parts individually: website files via FTP or File Manager, and databases via MySQL backup & restore.

Test and switch your domain

Once the account is restored on JetHost, check your site and send a test email before going live. Then point your domain to JetHost by updating the nameservers or DNS, and confirm your email DNS records are correct. Run through the migration checklist to make sure nothing’s missed.
