How to transfer my domain to JetHost?
A domain transfer is an administrative move of your domain name from one registrar to another. When you transfer your domain to JetHost, we become your registrar and you gain full control of your domain management in one place. As part of the process, the domain is renewed for 1 additional year, so you don’t lose any remaining time on your current registration.
What to check before starting
Before you request a domain transfer, make sure these requirements are met:
1. The domain is unlocked
Most registrars lock domains by default to prevent unauthorized transfers. This is called a Registrar Lock or Transfer Lock. Before you can move the domain, log into your current registrar’s control panel and disable this lock. Look for a setting like “Unlock Domain” or “Disable Transfer Lock.”
2. You have access to the administrative email address
The administrative email listed in the domain’s WHOIS or domain contact details is where the confirmation message for the transfer will be sent. If you don’t have access to this email account, you won’t be able to approve the transfer. Update your domain’s contact information at your current registrar if necessary before starting.
Be careful – many registrars apply a mandatory 60-day transfer lock after contact details are changed (especially the registrant name, organization, or email). This means you would not be able to transfer the domain during that period. If you need to update the email, do it well in advance or check with your registrar’s policy to avoid unexpected delays.
3. Get the authorization code (EPP/Auth Code)
The Authorization Code (sometimes called EPP code or Auth code) is a unique password generated by your current registrar. It serves as a security measure to ensure only the domain owner can transfer it. You’ll need to request this code from your current registrar and enter it during the JetHost transfer process.
4. The domain is not about to expire
A domain that’s too close to expiration may cause problems during transfer. We recommend starting the transfer at least 10 days before the expiration date. This ensures the domain doesn’t expire while the transfer is still processing, which could result in downtime or loss of access.
5. The domain was registered or transferred more than 60 days ago
ICANN regulations require that a domain be at least 60 days old before it can be transferred. The same rule applies after a recent transfer. You’ll need to wait 60 days before moving the domain again. If your domain is newer, you’ll have to wait until this period has passed.
6. The extension is supported by JetHost
Not all domain extensions (TLDs) can be registered or transferred by every registrar. Check that your domain extension (e.g., .com, .net, .org, or a country-specific TLD) is supported by JetHost. If the extension is not on our list, the transfer won’t be possible.
Steps to transfer your domain to JetHost
1. Create account or log in to your JetHost client area.
2. In left menu choose Store -> Transfer Domain to Us.
3. Enter the domain name you want to transfer.
4. Provide the Authorization Code when prompted.
5. Proceed to checkout and complete your order.
6. Check your email for the transfer approval message and confirm it.
What happens next
Once confirmed, the transfer process usually takes up to 5–7 days, depending on your current registrar.
During this period, your website and email services connected to the domain remain active.
After the transfer is completed, your domain will appear in your JetHost Client Area and will be renewed for 1 year from the original expiration date.
