Let’s encrypt SSL

Every JetHost plan comes with a free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate. It is issued and renewed automatically by cPanel’s AutoSSL, so most sites are secured without you doing anything. This guide shows you how to confirm it, and how to issue it manually if it has not appeared yet.

How free SSL works on JetHost

Let’s Encrypt is a trusted certificate authority that issues SSL certificates for free. On JetHost, cPanel’s AutoSSL requests one for every domain on your account and renews it before it expires. There is nothing to buy and nothing to upload. The only requirement is that your domain points to JetHost, so AutoSSL can verify it.

Step 1: Check if your domain is already secured

1. Log in to cPanel.
2. In the Security section, open SSL/TLS Status.
3. Find your domain in the list. If it shows a green padlock and the AutoSSL label, it is already secured – you’re done.

Step 2: Issue the certificate manually (if needed)

If your domain shows no certificate yet, you can trigger it from the same screen:

1. On the SSL/TLS Status page, tick the box next to your domain (and its www version).
2. Click Run AutoSSL.
3. Wait a few minutes and refresh. The padlock turns green once the certificate is installed.

A brand-new domain is usually secured within a couple of hours of pointing to your hosting. If it is still resolving elsewhere, AutoSSL cannot verify it yet.

Step 3: Make your site load over HTTPS

Having the certificate installed does not force visitors onto the secure address by itself – that part happens in your website software. In most apps you set the site URL to https:// and add a redirect from HTTP to HTTPS. Once done, reload your site with https:// and check for the padlock. If something looks off, see why a website can break after enabling SSL.

If the certificate will not issue

This almost always means the domain is not fully pointed to JetHost, or DNS is still propagating. Confirm your nameservers are correct, wait up to 24 hours, then run AutoSSL again.
