Transfer domain from Bluehost

Ready to transfer your domain from Bluehost to JetHost? The steps are simple: unlock the domain, request its authorization code, and start the transfer in your JetHost Client Area. This guide follows Bluehost’s current interface.

Before you start

Under ICANN rules, a domain can only be transferred if:

  • It was registered or last transferred more than 60 days ago.
  • It is not expired and not too close to its expiry date.
  • Your registrant (admin) email at Bluehost is current, as the authorization code and transfer notifications are sent there.

Also check that your domain’s extension (TLD) is one JetHost can register – this is a JetHost requirement, not an ICANN rule.

Unlock the domain and request the Auth code

  1. Log in to Bluehost and open Domains.
  2. Click Manage next to the domain you want to move.
  3. Open the Security tab and toggle Domain Lock off.
  4. In the Transfer Authorization / EPP Code section, choose your email and click Send Code (or use Request auth code under “Transfer to a new registrar”).

Bluehost emails the code to your registrant address, and it can take up to 24 hours to arrive. If domain privacy is enabled, turn it off so the emails reach you. The code is case-sensitive, so copy and paste it without extra spaces. For reference, see Bluehost’s own transfer-out guide.

Start the transfer at JetHost

If you have not ordered the transfer yet, start it here: order a domain transfer. Enter your domain, add it to the cart, and complete the order.

Once the transfer is ordered, add your authorization code:

  1. Log in to your JetHost Client Area.
  2. Go to Domains → Manage and open the domain you are transferring.
  3. Paste the Authorization (EPP) code and confirm.

Once the code is accepted, the transfer starts automatically. Bluehost has up to five days to release the domain under ICANN policy, so allow up to a week overall. If it has not completed after seven days, contact our support team to check the status.

Most extensions add a year to your registration when you transfer, so you rarely lose any time already paid for. Your website and email keep running throughout, as long as your DNS records stay the same at JetHost.

JetHost Experts Tip

Avoid using an email address that depends on the same hosting account (like name@yourdomain.com). If your domain expires or there’s a server issue, you may not receive the alert. Use an external email like Gmail or Outlook to guarantee delivery.
