Transfer domain from SiteGround
Ready to transfer your domain from SiteGround to JetHost? The steps are simple: unlock the domain, get its EPP code, and start the transfer in your JetHost Client Area. This guide follows SiteGround’s current Client Area.
Before you start
Under ICANN rules, a domain can only be transferred if:
- It was registered or last transferred more than 60 days ago.
- It is not expired and not too close to its expiry date.
- Your registrant (admin) email is current, as the EPP code is sent there.
Also check that your domain’s extension (TLD) is one JetHost can register.
Unlock the domain and get the EPP code
- Log in to your SiteGround Client Area and go to Services → Domains.
- Click Settings next to the domain, open the kebab (⋮) menu and select Registrar Lock. Set it to Off (allow up to 24 hours).
- From the same kebab menu, choose Get EPP Code. SiteGround sends it to the domain’s primary registrant email.
The code is case-sensitive, so copy and paste it without extra spaces. Some extensions do not need an EPP code; if you do not see the button, you can transfer without one. For reference, see SiteGround’s own transfer-away guide.
Start the transfer at JetHost
If you have not ordered the transfer yet, start it here: order a domain transfer. Enter your domain, add it to the cart, and complete the order.
Once the transfer is ordered, add your authorization code:
- Log in to your JetHost Client Area.
- Go to Domains → Manage and open the domain you are transferring.
- Paste the Authorization (EPP) code and confirm.
Once the code is accepted, the transfer starts automatically. SiteGround has up to five days to release the domain under ICANN policy, so allow up to a week overall. If it has not completed after seven days, contact our support team to check the status.
Most extensions add a year to your registration when you transfer, so you rarely lose any time already paid for. Your website and email keep running throughout, as long as your DNS records stay the same at JetHost.
JetHost Experts Tip
Avoid using an email address that depends on the same hosting account (like name@yourdomain.com). If your domain expires or there’s a server issue, you may not receive the alert. Use an external email like Gmail or Outlook to guarantee delivery.
