# Transfer uk and co.uk domain

Looking to **transfer a .UK domain** to JetHost? UK domains (.uk, .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk) work differently from most extensions. Instead of an authorization (EPP) code, they use an **IPS Tag**. Below, we explain how it works, the requirements, and how to move your domain.

## What is an IPS Tag?

An IPS Tag is a short code. It identifies the registrar responsible for a .UK domain at **Nominet**, the UK registry. Every .UK domain has one. To move your domain, the current registrar simply changes the tag to the new registrar's tag. In other words, there is no EPP code, password, or auth code. Moreover, this works the same way for every .UK variant, including **.co.uk**, .org.uk and .me.uk. Finally, once the tag points to us, we complete the transfer from your account.

## Requirements to transfer UK domains

- The domain is active (not expired or suspended at Nominet).
- You can change the IPS Tag at your current registrar (or via Nominet directly if they are unresponsive).
- Your contact details at Nominet are up to date.

Better still, .UK transfers do **not** have the 60-day ICANN lock. That rule only applies to .com and similar extensions. In addition, the tag change is usually free and fast.

## How to transfer a .UK domain to JetHost

1. Log in to your current registrar and open the settings for your .UK domain.
2. Change the domain's **IPS Tag** to JetHost's Nominet tag: **ENOM**, and save.
3. **Let us know once the tag is changed** – open a ticket or reply to your transfer email. The transfer does not start on its own; we complete it from your account once the tag points to us.

However, if your registrar will not let you change the tag yourself, ask their support to set it. Alternatively, change it directly in the [Nominet](https://www.nominet.uk/) member portal.

## .UK domains at GoDaddy

GoDaddy also manages .UK domains through the IPS Tag. First, open your GoDaddy domain settings. Then look for the option to change the registrar or IPS Tag, and set it to JetHost's tag above. However, if you cannot find it, contact GoDaddy support and ask them to change it for you.

## Other country-code domains

Many country-code extensions (ccTLDs) have their own rules. For example, some use an auth code, some use a tag, and a few cannot be transferred at all. Therefore, if you are unsure about your extension, contact our support team. We will then confirm whether we can register it and how the transfer works.
