How to Enable SVG Uploads with JetHost Total Care
WordPress blocks SVG uploads by default, because SVG files can contain code. Enable SVG Uploads in JetHost Total Care lets you upload them when you need crisp, scalable logos and icons. This guide shows how, and how to stay safe, on any JetHost WordPress hosting plan.
Allow SVG uploads
- In your WordPress dashboard, open JetHost Total Care → Admin Enhancements.
- Toggle on Enable SVG Uploads.

You can now upload .svg files through the Media Library like any other image. SVGs are vector graphics, so they stay perfectly sharp at any size and usually have a tiny file size – ideal for logos, icons, and simple illustrations.
Upload SVGs safely
Because an SVG is really a text file that can hold scripts, only upload files from sources you trust – your own designer or a reputable icon library – not random SVGs from unknown sites. If you’re unsure, run the file through an online SVG sanitiser first. If an SVG appears too large after inserting it, set an explicit width in your block, since some SVGs have no fixed dimensions. Keep JPEG or WebP for photos, and reserve SVG for logos and flat graphics.
Why WordPress blocks SVGs by default
An SVG isn’t a normal image – it’s an XML text file that describes shapes, and it can also contain JavaScript. Because a malicious SVG could carry code, WordPress blocks the format out of the box as a safety measure. That protection makes sense as a default, but it also stops you using SVGs for legitimate reasons, which is what this option re-enables once you’re ready to handle them responsibly.
SVGs, performance and safe use
Used well, SVGs are excellent for performance. They’re vector graphics, so they stay perfectly crisp at any size and on any screen, and their file size is usually tiny – ideal for logos, icons, and simple illustrations that would otherwise be heavier PNGs. The trade-off is trust: only upload SVGs from sources you control, such as your designer or a reputable icon library, and run anything uncertain through an online SVG sanitiser first. Keep using JPEG or WebP for photographs, and reserve SVG for flat graphics where its sharpness and small size shine.
JetHost Experts Tip
Only let trusted administrators upload SVGs, and stick to files from your designer or a well-known icon set. Leave this toggle off when you don’t need SVGs, and turn it on only when you do.
